Brilliant Holly

The results of a cross between aquifolium and pernyi, the habit is pyramidal with dense foliage of lustrous dark green color.  It has an  abundance of good size bright red berries in winter. Evergreen.    Full sun.

Foster’s Holly

A slender pyramidal form has leaves that are a glossy dark green with spiny points on each side.  Abundant deep red berries make this a very attractive plant for the landscape for foundation plants, hedges or specimen plants.   Evergreen.  Moderate grower 20-25’ tall, 6-10’ wide.  Sun or partial shade.

Willow Leaf  (Needlepoint Holly)

Dense, lateral branching creates a pyramidal growth habit making a perfect screen or hedge. Long narrow lustrous dark green leaves have a slight twist to them. Blood red berries are produced readily without a pollenizer present, heaver with. Evergreen shrub growing to 10-15’ in height, equal width.  Full to partial sun.

Heller’s Japanese Holly 

Dwarf, compactly branched mounded form that has  small, dark green leaves measuring about ½” long, less lustrous than most. Berry-like drupe under foliage appears from September-October and persists into spring.  Only females have this drupe.  Prefers light, moist, well-drained, slightly acid soils.  Sun or partial shade.

Mary Nell Luster Leaf Holly

A large pyramidal broadleaf evergreen tree with lustrous dark green spiny leaves. Leaves hold their color throughout the year.  Deep dull red berries grow in dense clusters and almost completely encircle the stems holding into February-March but lose color to a dull washed out red. Prefers well-drained soil but will hold up under drought conditions. Grows 20-25’.

Upright Native Yaupon

Picturesque, upright, irregularly branched shrub or small tree. New growth has a purplish tinge but turns a lustrous dark green.  Produces greenish white flowers in clusters on year-old wood.  Produces truly beautiful scarlet drupe fruit in the spring.   This has multiple uses in the landscape including barriers, hedges, screens and espaliers. Medium to fast grower, reaching heights from 15-20’, growing 2-3’ of new growth in a single season, usually less in width.

Florida Anise

Multi-branched, upright shrub with dark green leaves which droop resembling a rhododendron.  Maroon-purple flowers are 1 to 2” in diameter with the fragrance of oranges, blooming April-May. Grows 5-6’ in height and possibly wider.  Evergreen to semi-evergreen.  Full sun.
