Florida Jasmine or Showy Jasmine    USDA 8-10

Attractive semi-evergreen to evergreen is a small mounding shrub.  The dark green arching branches can be trained as a vine or used as ground cover. Produces a profusion of yellow 5-lobed flowers appearing from April into June and sporadically into the fall.  A very Attractive plant for butterflies and  hummingbirds.   Height  3-5’  and wider.  Full sun.

‘Winter Jasmine’ or Hardy Jasmine                 

A slender deciduous shrub with arching green shoots.  Leaves are opposite, pinnate dark green with each divided into 3 oval-oblong leaflets.  Solitary, salverform, bright yellow flowers are produced in the leaf axils before the leaves appear in winter or early spring.  Grows 10’ high and wide.

This handsome irregular columnar form holds tufted brilliant green foliage. A versatile and durable evergreen, it is used in landscape for accent, windbreaker or screen for narrow spaces.   It is a slow grower reaching 12-16’ tall, 5-7’ wide.   Full sun.

Slow growing, stiff irregular branched, semi-prostrate form is covered by sage green needles. Because of the branching habit, it is a good choice for training as a bonsai or other topiary form.  In landscaping, it makes a great low border or ground cover.     Creeping form to 24” high, spreading to 6-8’ wide. This densely branched pyramidal or columnar  form holds rich green needle-like foliage.  It is useful as a windbreak or screen or may be sheared as a topiary.  This durable evergreen tolerates heat, cold and drought. A rapid grower reaching heights of  15’  and 3- 5’ wide.  Full sun.

Hollywood Juniper

These rustic twisted dense erect branches give an artistic appearance to this rapid growing shrub making it a useful accent plant for anywhere.  It does extremely well in costal areas.   It is a fast grower with superb rich green foliage. It  grows to 15’ tall, 10’ wide, can be easily trained to topiary shapes. Full sun.

Blue Pacific Juniper

Makes a good vigorous ground cover for around shrubs or on a steep bank to prevent erosion and mowing. Can be used in group plantings or as a single specimen. Evergreen dense foliage has short needles of ocean blue-green.  It does not lose its color as badly as some of the other species.  Slow growing to a height of 10-12” with 6-7’ spread.  Full sun.

Parsonii Juniper

Prostrate, horizontal form with stiff spreading branches that build upon themselves in a dome-shaped mound. Adult and juvenile foliage is dark green .  The long, slender, adult branches are arranged in dense, rich looking sprays making this a very attractive plant for landscaping.  It is vigorous and adaptable.  Grows 2-3’ high and 9’ spread.  Excellent for heat and some shade tolerance.

Frosty Blue Juniper

Similar to Blue Rug,  but has  more of a bluish color.  It’s thick, tight foliage boast the appearance of silvery-blue carpet. Mature growth accents purple-tinged tips. Compact ground cover, it grows 4” tall, spreading up to 8’ wide.  Evergreen.

Blue Rug Juniper

One of the finest low trailing junipers with an intense silver-blue foliage, it assumes a light tinge of purple in the winter.  It makes a good cover for banks or rock gardens or cascading over walls. Does well in the heat of the south.  Fast growing to a height of 4-6” and spread of 5-8’. Full sun.

Low prostrate growth habit, tightly knit branches create full centered look, bright green foliage all summer and plum color in winter. It is very versatile for use in rock gardens or foreground of borders. Height 1’ with a spread of 6’.   Evergreen.  Full sun.

Dwarf Japanese Garden Juniper

This is one of the best small evergreens that is a ground cover. A dense mound is created of branches that radiate from the center.  Its cushion-like form is covered by dense, bluish-green foliage and it’s form is best when left unsheared.  Moderate growth to 1’ tall, spreads to 6’.    Sun or partial shade.

Wichita Blue Juniper

One of the most handsome pyramidal growers with a broad, branched upright habit of silver blue foliage.  Great for screens, hedges, backgrounds and lawn specimens.  Grows 10-15’ high, 4-6’ wide. Drought resistant.   Full sun.

Blue Star Juniper

Foliage is rich silver blue on dense spreading and mounding branches. Creates a colorful contrast. It grows 2-3’ high,  3-4’ wide.  Full sun or partial shade.

Grey Owl Juniper

A large spreading shrub with arching, horizontal branches, oval-diamond-shaped, soft silver-gray foliage. Brownish violet fruit ripens at the first signs of autumn.  Grows 6-10’ tall, 10-12’ wide.

 

virginiana scopulorum Skyrocket’              USDA 4-9

Skyrocket Juniper

This is probably the narrowest columnar juniper, resembling a skyrocket. The foliage is  a compact silver-blue  held on dense branches. Durable and versatile, best grouped to form colorful screen or garden accent.   This is a rapid grower reaching heights of 15-20’ and width of 2-3’.  Full sun.
