This is the most poplar of the photinas. New foliage explodes with bright
bonze-red coloring, maturing to large lustrous dark green
leaves. New
leaves coincide with the small white flower starting to emerge in
early to mid March.
When plants are young, they appear very open but pruning will
encourage basal branching. Flowers have a quite offensive
odor. Basic problems
are a fungus that starts out with a spot on the leaves. Good corner
plant or screen hedge.
It can be used as
espalier or as a patio tree also. Moderate to fast grower to
